D-Day and Battle of Normandy Veterans in France

On June 7, 2009 the Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs and the Canadian delegation took part in a ceremony of remembrance and wreath laying at the Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery. There are 2,793 Canadian soldiers buried in the cemetery.

Attending this ceremony were a number of veterans - including many of the 12 veterans profiled in a temporary new exhibit unveiled at the Juno Beach Centre the day earlier.

The Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, joined the delegation on June 5th at Courseulles-sur-Mer for the unveiling of a Royal Canadian Navy monument. The monument commemorates Canada's contribution in D-Day and the Battle of Normandy and is located on the ground adjacent to Juno Beach Centre.
